Adatepe
Village
- A pretty mountain village on Mt. Ida, where the mythological
beauty contest between Aphrodite, Hera and Athena took place.
Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, accepting her bribe chose
Aphrodite as most the beautiful. Hence, the bribe he recieved,
the fairest woman of earth, was a poison ivy and lead to
the start of the Trojan War. Adatepe village is an ideal
base for exploring ancient Assos, Troy, and cultural life
of the mountain. The Altar of Zeus, only a simple stone
platform with steps now, is on a hilltop at the entrance
of the village. It has a gorgeous aireal view of the Edremit
Bay. |
