Adatepe Village - A pretty mountain village on Mt. Ida, where the mythological beauty contest between Aphrodite, Hera and Athena took place. Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, accepting her bribe chose Aphrodite as most the beautiful. Hence, the bribe he recieved, the fairest woman of earth, was a poison ivy and lead to the start of the Trojan War. Adatepe village is an ideal base for exploring ancient Assos, Troy, and cultural life of the mountain. The Altar of Zeus, only a simple stone platform with steps now, is on a hilltop at the entrance of the village. It has a gorgeous aireal view of the Edremit Bay.
