Before
we came we knew visiting Turkey was going to be a wonderful
experience but everything we saw and did and everyone we met
exceeded, wildly exceeded, our expectations. You obviously love
your country and you shared your country with us in such a way
that we felt at once like we were welcomed - not strangers -
and that learning about and experiencing Turkey made us appreciate
even more what we all share in common.

Dear
Iris... Words cannot describe my feelings about Turkey and the
people I encountered there. Your depth of knowledge and willingness
to share that with us, in addition to your concern and caring
for our personal problems and health issues went above and beyond
the call of duty.
My four days of solitary wandering after the tour ended were
very special in that I felt brave enough to interact with everyone
I encountered and was treated with kindness and respect…no
one laughed at my attempts to speak Turkish, they thanked me
for my efforts.

The
trip was an unlikely combination of relaxing and fascinating.
A more pristine sea we have never seen. We swam a few times
a day, often snorkeling, and enjoying exploring ruins and villages.
Our captain and his crew were warm and accommodating.
Istanbul was quite a spectacle; interesting and exhilarating.
It isn't all that dissimilar to our beloved NYC. It's just a
bit more exotic.
Your service was flawless. Thank you for taking such good care
of us.

Thanks
again for such a wonderful tour. You made it seem so easy and
effortless, and I know that is not the case at all. I knew before
I went that this trip would be a life changing experience, and
the tour easily exceeded that very high expectation. Every day
I woke up thinking that today couldn't possibly top what we
did/saw/learned the previous day. And every day, I was wrong
because you managed to do exactly that.

It
is difficult to extract one highlight of the trip - but one
of the most memorable was the visit to Mehmet Bey. It is difficult
to put into words how I feel about that visit. We were treated
so wonderfully kind by everyone involved. It was so very special
to see your ancestral home and to see how everyone holds you
in such high esteem.
Next would be the wedding - what a great cultural event for
us to witness. To see two lovely people marry - and how their
parents and family wanted to share it with us. How very warm
and kind of them.

The
trip was so rich with personal experiences and with historical
and fascinating sights. If I pick one thing, I just neglect
another. The trip was a wonderful experience end-to-end. The
people on the trip were an excellent group. The people were
interested and interesting, and they were right for the trip.
Everyone was on time and actively participated. I have to say
you did a great job on that.
I am not sure whose idea it was to stop the wedding car to get
money near Igdir, but that was quite unexpected and another
favorite memory of mine. I had never heard of that tradition.

Our trip with you was truly wonderful. I got
everything and more from the experience that I was looking for.
I think you both helped me learn about and experience the 'past'
and 'present' Turkey in a way I will always remember and be
thankful for.

Everywhere, there is a smile not only with the
mouth but with their eyes... to be invited into a woman's home
as we were walking down the street in the small village of Guzelyurt,
or to see three other women making grape syrup that their mothers
did for centuries was an experience we shall never forget. ...the
name Mustafapasha will forever bring smiles to our lips as we
think of the local musicians to come and play for us...

Mother, Jim and I still look back at our tour
of Eastern Turkey with fond memories, one of the most fun vacations
we've ever taken! Thank you again for providing such an interesting,
stimulating and well rounded introduction to your fascinating
country. And for the concert of Mozart and Ravel in the ancient
Roman theater.

Bonnie and I had our most memorable trip with
you this Spring. It sharpened our knowledge in one subject of
continuing interest to us. It was also a very agreeable experience
to see the country, meet the people in such congenial circumstances
and with a guide having such academic prowess. We have had a
long time interest in religious teachings and their impact.
The Turkish trip exposed us to some of the background of the
early Christian church and to the Moslem experience. ...I am
hoping that our paths will cross again, your friends Richard
and Bonnie

Nancy and I are still in that 'rosy glow' of
pleasant memories of our recent Turkey trip. Although the initial
euphoria will fade, we know that the sights, sounds, unique
experiences, and most of all, the relationshipswith our new
found friends will always be a part of us. Thanks for making
the country come alive. ...it was a priviledge to be with you
on our Turkish adventure!
