Istanbul - highlights
A three day itinerary to introduce the highlights of Istanbul. First two days cover the attractions in the old town whereas on the third day you will discover European Istanbul through the colorful streets of the - not so new - district on a walking tour.
day 1 --- Introduction to Ottoman life style. Topkapi was the administrative palace for the Ottoman dynasty for over 400 years. The tour includes the Harem, private apartments of the royal family. We will then visit the Blue Mosque, known for its outstanding 17. century tiles. Next stop will be the Hippodrome, the center of political and sportive activities in the capital city of Byzantine Empire. Orientation and free time in Spice Market and the Grand Bazaar.
day 2 --- In the morning we take the cruise on the Bosphorus, the strait that divides the two continents, and the only water pass to the Black Sea. Later in the day we will visit St. Savior in Chora, a spectacular church of the late Byzantine era. We will continue on to the 6. century Hagia Sophia, the masterpiece of the Byzantine art and architecture.
day 3 --- Today we discover Istanbul beyond the boundries of the old town. We will start the day walking the colorful and busy streets in Pera district. Istiklal street leads us to Taksim square which is the center of daily activities in European Istanbul. We will then visit the Dolmabahce Palace, built on the Bosphorus for the royal dynasty in mid 19. century.
