| It
takes dedication, and patience to protect the nature, and
commitment to contribute. An international organization
and a local foundation have developed, and have been supporting
two very effective projects in Turkey for the future; TEMA
(local Foundation to Combat Land Erosion) in the "Macahel"
region, and UN with the "Eastern Anatolia Development
Project" (UNDP) in northeast Turkey (srm provides support
to this project). The work of these two societies help develop
an economy based on local resources that do not change or
damage the balance of nature. |
| Macahel
region of the Artvin province is to the east of Mt. Karchal,
almost isolated from the rest of the world. This region
has a surprisingly rich flora and fauna. The rugged terrain
and inaccessible mountains are the reason why local traditions
lost elsewhere are still living. And for the same reason
nature is so well protected. Several endemic plants were
discovered recently. The Caucasian bee that was thought
to be extinct for a very long time as a pure breed was one
other discovery. |
| Coruh
Valley is another noteworthy region of Turkey where scientists
are still discovering unknown flora and fauna. Through thousands
of years, the river has sculpted a fascinating landscape.
Coruh is one of the exciting rivers in the world for rafters,
with sections offering different levels of difficulty. UNDP
project helps discover more of the endemic qualities of
the region, educate locals to preserve the environment,
teach them alternatives for a pollution free economy, and
get the attention of the world to travel to this region. |
| We
are committed to the preservation of our nature and cultural
heritage for a better future. We are among the very first
to explore these regions, and now we offer expeditions and
adventures for the interest of the free minded traveler. |
