itinerary details

day 1 - You'll board your private yacht in Bodrum. Then you'll cruise about 2.5 hours across the mouth of Gokova Gulf to the ancient city of Knidos. This strategic site was one of the six cities of the Dorian Hexapolis league back in the 4th century BC.
Knidos is the point that separates the Aegean from the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. It has two ancient harbors; you'll drop anchor in the larger, eastern harbor from where you can see the ruins.
The harbor is relatively unprotected from the prevailing winds, so the captain may decide to overnight in a bay near Datca.

day 2 - You'll complete harbor formalities in Datca, and depart for the Greek island of Symi. Your destination is Panormitis Bay at the southern part of the island.
Those who are interested may visit the Panormitis Monastery, dedicated to Archangel Michael. The monastery has a great seaside location at the end of a charming valley.
You'll stay overnight in Symi harbor.

day 3 - You'll leave very early this morning to get to Kos. As you arrive at the island, you’ll meet your local guide for an excursion to the ruins of Asklepion. You’ll then visit the Plane Tree of Hippocrates, a dream temple where the physician taught. The site is also home to International Hippocratic Institute and the Hippocratic Museum, dedicated to him.
You'll depart after lunch and cruise back to Bodrum.
After you complete harbor formalities, you'll spend the night in Bodrum's harbor, or anchor in one of the nearby bays.

day 4 - After breakfast, you'll say good-bye to your captain and crew. You'll find easy transportation connections in Bodrum back to Istanbul, or be able to have further adventures along the Turkish coastline. Gule-gule!

need to know
  • A gulet is a two-masted wooden yacht, unique to south-west coast of Turkey. It is built out of pine wood in the traditional design. A six-cabin gulet is approximately 80-85 feet long. Commercial gulets are not properly rigged for sailing (except those designed for that purpose) and are diesel-powered.

  • This is a custom designed itinerary, and your time on the boat is highly flexible. When the boat anchors, you can choose to do sight-seeing, hiking, swimming, or to relax on board or ashore.
The yacht has ample deck space. You can read, listen to music, rest, or challenge the crew for a backgammon game! Water sports may be available at locations where the boat drops anchor.

  • Each cabin has AC, and en-suite WC/shower, but do not expect too much luxury. The crew is casual; there will not be a guide on board, so the boat captain is in charge. You will have a cook and a seaman at your service.

  • Food is fresh, with seasonal vegetables and fruits. Then again, if you have dietary restrictions, let us know ahead of time so that the crew provides appropriate ingredients.

  • The sea is usually calm in late June and July, but you never know what Poseidon has in mind. Be prepared, if you are prone to sea-sickness.

  • If you'd like to snorkel, let us know ahead of time so snorkeling equipment can be available for your use.  The equipment will be available for everyone to use, so you may prefer to bring your own gear.
